Hi, I’m Alana 👋
I am currently a Senior User Experience Researcher with a background in UX design, neuroscience, business, and cognitive science.
My passions are investigation and innovation: extracting meaningful insights through human experience and using these discoveries to drive the ideation and production of life-changing products! This is achieved by listening to the stories of others, empathizing, and problem solving.
I entered the UX field with hopes of creating a more protective football helmet.
When I was a freshman in college my grandpa was diagnosed with dementia related to a lifelong football career.
This experience led me to study cognitive science and neuroscience, hoping to help my grandpa with his experience. However I quickly realized that I found much more purpose and joy in finding solutions, not only studying the causes of problems. I wanted to make a more protective football helmet, which introduced me to the field of UX and was a catalyst for my professional career.
My UX work has since expanded to more diverse industries.
Although creating a better helmet is still a personal goal of mine, my work has pivoted into new and diverse spaces. In my career I use user-centered research and design processes to inform cross functional partners and ultimately create meaningful devices, experiences, and services. This all starts with empathetic and investigative research; by listening to the thoughts and feelings of users. I strive to see people smiling and having a great experience as a result of my work!
